A New Rose
Sometimes I think the hardest part about blogging is trying to figure out what to put in that "title" box.
Thursday was the day that I go to the orphanage, with the other ladies for the english classes with the children. As usual, it was a fun and interesting afternoon.
Unfortunately one of the restaurants in San Carlos has closed down, so yesterday they had a sale of some of their things here in Guaymas. Some of us went to see what was being offered and we all managed to get something. I picked up a couple of pie and cake pans in sizes that I was missing and also some foodstuffs. Then we went shopping downtown. We split up for awhile as I had to look for a birthday gift for the landlords grandson, whose birthday fiesta is tomorrow afternoon. I found a spiderman with some "oozing venom" and an ugly looking accomplice. Hopefully this is gross and ugly enough to make his 8 year old boy mind happy. I got it wrapped in matching spiderman wrapping paper and all the bows etc., that they put on the wrapping here. Looks pretty, as they always do, when you go to one of those places that do the wrapping for you. They do such a good job and are so reasonable I don't know why you would ever bother doing it yourself. Besides, nothing that I have ever wrapped has ever looked this good.
The wrapped gift, cost of wrapping, 12 pesos or about $1.20
Today I had an appointment out in San Carlos at 11 AM, so we decided to go out early and have breakfast at Marias Pizza. We visited a bit with our friend and by the time we were done eating it was time to head for the appointment. By the time I was done with that it was 1 PM so we headed in the direction of home with a stop off at a plant nursery. I picked up a few petunias and a really pretty rose with a wonderful fragrance. The rose was a bit less than $4.00 and the petunias were almost 80¢ each. Once we got home I transplanted everything so we have a bit more color on the patio now. It has been looking a bit drab since I chopped off all of the Jamaica a few days ago.
The new rose.
